Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Mount Ida College complies with the provisions of federal regulations governing the privacy and disclosure of student information. These regulations are known as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 as Amended (FERPA). The purpose of FERPA is to afford certain rights to students concerning their education records.
The primary rights afforded to students by FERPA are the right to inspect and review the education records, the right to seek to have the records amended, and the right to have some control over the disclosure of information from the records. FERPA applies to all enrolled students and former students.
Students can submit a completed FERPA Form to the Financial Aid Office, found below, to give permission, or rescind permission, to speak with any individual(s) on their behalf regarding educational matters.
