Mount Ida College

From Potential to Achievement

Child Study

The associate degree in Child Study combines classroom and practical studies during a two-year course of study. The curriculum prepares students to enter the work force immediately after completing the program.

You will gain real-world experience through two on- or off-campus fieldwork experiences. Fieldwork sites include day care centers, special needs programs, hospitals, museums and the Longfellow Preschool, located onsite at Mount Ida College.

Upon completion of the associate degree in child study, you will be eligible for certification from the Office for Child Care Services of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the teacher level, which qualifies you for positions in preschool and childcare programs. You can expect to find work in daycare programs, corporate childcare centers, infant-toddler programs, kindergarten classrooms and hospital settings.
