Residence Halls

The residence halls are divided into two areas called Inner Campus and Outer Campus. Each area is overseen by a team of two professional staff members. In addition to the areas on campus, we offer residences in three off-campus locations in partnerships with Pine Manor College, and Hancock Village.
Wingate Hall

Wingate Hall

Wingate Hall is home to approximately 300 first year resident students. All four floors are single gender floors.  The second floor is the male floor, while the remaining three floors are female. There are nine (9) Resident Assistants who staff Wingate Hall.  Wingate is also home to the mailroom, the game room, the Office of Residence Life staff annex and the dining hall.  It features the First Year Residential Experience (FYRE), which offers dynamic programs for first year students with the goal of assisting their transition to the College.

Shaw Hall

Shaw Hall

Shaw Hall is the original mansion of the Robert Gould Shaw Estate, and is now home to approximately 50 female resident students. This building features rooms with a tremendous amount of character.   Two (2) Resident Assistants staff the hall. Shaw also houses the Public Safety Office, Career Services Office, Student Activities Office, Multicultural Affairs and the Student Government Office and student organization space.



Brown Hall

Brown Hall houses approximately 95 Mount Ida Students as well as students enrolled in the ELS (English as a second language) program on single gender floors.  Two of the three floors are male floors. One (1) Resident Assistant and one graduate student who is currently enrolled in a Student Affairs or Higher Education Preparation Program.  The first floor of Brown is an all-male Academic Intensive Living Learning Community (LLC), which means that it is a 24 hour quiet hour floor, and residents are invited to participate in programs that stress academic preparation and success. 



Chapman Hall

Chapman Hall is co-ed and home to approximately 40 resident students. Chapman houses our Social Justice and Service Learning Living Learning Community (LLC) on the top two floors.  The ground floor is a small quiet community. One (1) Resident Assistant staffs Chapman.

Malloy Hall

Malloy Hall houses approximately 350 students.  The first two floors are predominately upper-class residents, while the third floor is predominately new students (first-year and transfers).  Malloy offers suite-style living options for groups of 14 students who share private bathrooms. Some of the suites are co-ed, while others are single gender.  All rooms are single gender, and bathrooms are private, and located in the common area of each suite.  Students who live in Malloy are not expected to clean their bathrooms.  Malloy is staffed by eight (8) Resident Assistants.



New Hall

New Hall

New Hall houses 136 upper-class resident students of junior and senior class standing. New Hall opened in the fall of 2008 and is the newest addition to the college campus with innovative "pod" design. Each of the pods has 3 floors with each floor having a small community of 22 students who live in different types and sizes of rooms surrounding a common bath area. There are several Living Learning Communities (LLCs) including an academic intensive community, and  21+ housing. Some pods are single gender, while others are co-ed.  There are two common area bathrooms in each pod.  New Hall is staffed by one three (3) Resident Assistants.

 

**OFF CAMPUS COLLEGE SPONSORED HOUSING**

 

Mount Ida College offers two off-campus housing locations for students to select for living.  These locations provide us with a means of diversifying our housing opportunities, and giving students with off-campus living that is convenient to campus. 

Hancock Village

Operated by Chestnut Hill Realty, Hancock Village is located in Brookline and Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.  18 students will be residing in six (6) units at Hancock Village in Townhouse style accommodations (three students per townhouse).  An Area Coordinator lives on site and serves as a liaison to Chestnut Hill Reality.  Residents are afforded the opportunity to utilize Hancock Village amenities including meeting rooms, a computer lab, a shuttle to the MBTA, free parking on-site and a fitness facility.
