Welcome!

The Counseling Center provides a variety of services that promote and support the mental health and wellness of students of Mount Ida College.  These services can include the following:

  • Individual, short-term counseling
  • Group counseling
  • Crisis intervention
  • Psychiatric consultation
  • Psychoeducational programming
  • Referral services
  • Substance use and other assessments

Counseling Center staff are also available for consultation to all members of the Mount Ida community which may include faculty, staff, and parents of students.

It is common for students to experience stress and other issues that may interfere with their ability to meet the challenges that college life presents.  Students are encouraged to get help by speaking with a counselor, as most students have reported benefiting from using counseling services in the past.  Below is a list of possible topics that students choose to talk about in counseling:

  • Difficulty adjusting to college
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Abuse or dating violence
  • Feeling lonely or isolated
  • Sexual assault
  • Eating/Body image
  • Stress management
  • Anger
  • Sexuality/Sexual orientation
  • Family concerns
  • Self-esteem
  • Alcohol and/or drug use
  • Racial/Cultural identity
  • Grief/Loss
