Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene
The Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program is a four year full-time degree program. The curriculum includes content in the following four areas: general education, biomedical sciences, dental sciences and dental hygiene science. The basic clinical education aspect of the curriculum includes a formal course sequence in scientific principles of dental hygiene practice, which extends throughout the curriculum and is coordinated and integrated with clinical experience in providing dental hygiene service.
The Dental Hygiene program design ensures that the student is able to not only synthesize didactic concepts, but also incorporate them into clinical application and judgment. The student can apply for licensure and boards after successful completion of the third year. The fourth year allows the student to choose an area of concentration in business/management, forensics, education (teaching) or pre-professional (dental school bound).
