Dr. Zaidan

Dr. Zaidan holds a B.F.A. in Sequential Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia, an M.A. in Illustration and a Ph.D. in the History of Art, Design and Architecture from Kingston University London. She specializes in the history of art, design and mass communication and is also a practicing illustrator with formal training in sequential art. Her international background has provided her with a global perspective on art, visual culture and society, and an understanding that philosophies behind the creation of visual media are rich and varied.

Her Ph.D thesis, The Adventures of MetaMan: The Superhero as a Representation of Modern Western Masculinity (1940-2010,) is a practice-based research project that aims to develop interactive media tools to interrogate superhero narratives and representations of male identity in relation to the experiences of relevant users in educational environments. Dr Zaidan is a passionate, enthusiastic educator, researcher and art practitioner, dedicated to creating dynamic ways to communicate ideas.
