Kathleen Driscoll is an Associate Professor in Art Foundation in the School of Design at Mount Ida College. She teaches Two and Three Dimensional Design and History of Modern and Contemporary Art. She has also taught Anatomy and Figure Drawing, Basic Drawing, Drawing Concepts, and Introduction to Visual Design. Professor Driscoll has taught at Mount Ida for over sixteen years. Ms. Driscoll is also the Director of the Gallery at Mount Ida College. She curates, plans, schedules and implements exhibitions showcasing innovative exhibitions of regional, national and international fine artists and designers. The mission of the gallery is to celebrate life long learning and involvement in the arts through exhibitions highlighting artistic excellence as found in varied disciplines. The exhibitions are made available to the surrounding communities of Newton, Boston and New England as well as The Mount Ida College community. The Gallery supports the Design Programs by bringing inspirational artists and designers to strengthen the educational experience for all students.
Ms. Driscoll has a Master of Fine Art in Sculpture from Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. She has also taught courses in design theory, color, sculpture and drawing at Montserrat College of Art, Framingham State College and Indiana University.
Kathleen is a professional artist who is most well known for her large outdoor site specific sculptural installations. Some of her installations include works built for: The DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, Ma; The Revolving Museum, Lowell, Ma; The Bellevue Arts Commission, Bellevue, Wa; Longwood University, Va; The City of Boston; Forest Hills Educational Trust, Boston and Chesterwood, Stockbridge, Ma. She regularly exhibits smaller sculptures and drawings in galleries and museums and her work can be found in many private and corporate collections. Kathleen has won many award, honors and grants for her work including an Artist’s Resource Trust Grant from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. Critics have given her work consistent positive reviews in national newspapers and magazines including; The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald and Sculpture Magazine.
