Steps to Successful Advising/Registration

 

ADVISING/REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER AND/OR FALL 2013

 

Advising for students will begin on Monday, March 25.  The registration schedule is posted below:

Student who have Completed:

 

 

May Register as of this date:

75 Credits or more

 

 

Tuesday, April 2

45 Credits or more

 

 

Wednesday, April 3

All students

 

 

Thursday, April 4

(Credits completed as of April 1, 2013, courses in progress do not count)

           

STEP 1: CHECK MIWEB TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A HOLD ON YOUR STUDENT ACCOUNT

If your financial account for the current academic year (fall 2012 and spring 2013) is not in order, please contact the Student Accounts Office at 617.928.4750 to settle your bill. If your account is not cleared, you will not be able to register.  If you have difficulty logging on to your account, contact Network Services at nshelpdesk@mountida.edu.

 

Financial Aid Hold: If your financial aid file remains incomplete, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 617.627.4785 to review the status of your file or stop by our office located on the 2nd floor of Holbrook Hall for assistance.

 

STEP 2: FIND YOUR FACULTY ADVISOR

You are assigned a faculty advisor to assist you with the selection of courses and to help you with the advising/registration process. The name of your faculty advisor, his/ her office location and contact information is available on MIWeb.  Navigate to the Academic tab, and click the link “Who is my Advisor”.

 

STEP 3:  MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

You must make an appointment to meet with your faculty advisor as soon as possible.  If you are unable to schedule an advising appointment during your faculty advisor’s office hours (posted on office door) please call or email your advisor to arrange an alternate appointment time.

 

STEP 4:  MAKE A PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE

Before meeting with your faculty advisor, you should:

v Review your Academic Plan (Log onto MIWeb Self Service, then click on Register, then Academic Plan).

v Check out the Online College Catalog, Schedule of Course Offerings, All College Curriculum, a schedule planner, and Program Guides on the Academic Advising webpage.

v Beginning Wednesday, March 13, the Schedule of Course Offerings will be available. You can start adding courses to your “cart” by clicking the Add button for the section(s) you want.

 

STEP 5:  MEET WITH YOUR FACULTY ADVISOR

Your advising appointment should be used to clarify any questions/concerns regarding grades, career options, internships, graduation requirements, and/or study abroad opportunities. When your schedule is finalized, your faculty advisor will ask you to complete an Online Advising Survey.  This survey will be emailed to you on April 8, 2013.

 

STEP 6:  REGISTER

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on your assigned day, you will be able to view your cart and click Register and Next.  Your schedule will be submitted to your faculty advisor for approval.


STEP 7:  SCHEDULE APPROVAL

Once your course schedule has been approved, you will receive an email from your faculty advisor indicating that you have successfully registered.

 

STEP 8:  VIEW YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE

Your class schedule will be available on MIWeb.
