Mount Ida College Cancels Classes, Friday, February 8; Residential Campus Will Remain Open

Newton, MA—After careful and diligent monitoring and preparations by our storm response team, Mount Ida College has decided to cancel all classes and close administrative offices for Friday, February 8, 2013 due to the snow storm. Please know that a blizzard warning is in place and the state’s emergency team strongly encourages everyone to stay off the roads tomorrow and until the crews have a chance to clear the roads on Saturday.
For our students living at the College, the residential campus, including the Veterinary Technology building, will remain open all weekend with the appropriate staffing and services in place to serve our students and community, including full dining services, student activities and public safety. The College also has contingencies in place, including emergency power for all residence halls, Wingate dining, Shaw Hall and the Veterinary Technology building, if the area should lose power due to the storm.
For those staying on campus this weekend, important items of note:
Campus Parking Ban: To ensure safe snow removal a parking ban is in effect from Friday, February 8 at 3:00 p.m. until Sunday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. We ask community members with vehicles to follow these procedures:
Effective Friday, February 8 at 3:00 p.m. until Sunday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m., all vehicles parked in residential lots (Carlson, Wingate, Back Road, Malloy, Chapman and the front of Shaw and New Halls), must move to the academic lots (Chamberlayne, NEI, Longfellow, Front of Longfellow, Miller, Halden Center, Veterinary Technology and all of Ida Street parking).
Effective Sunday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m., vehicles in the academic lots must be moved to the residential lots. Cars not removed during the parking ban will be towed and the owner fined.
Suspended Guest Privileges: Guest privileges will be suspended for Friday and Saturday nights.
Shuttle Service: Shuttle service will be unavailable on Friday or Saturday. We anticipate normal service hours resuming on Sunday, February 10. Please check the website for updates.
Library: Wadsworth Library will be closed on Friday and Saturday. We anticipate normal service hours resuming on Sunday. Please check the website for updates.
Women’s Basketball: Saturday’s game has been postponed.
