Newton, MA – Mount Ida College is pleased to announce that it is celebrating its 15th Annual Martin Luther King Breakfast on Wednesday, February 6, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Carlson Hall’s Great Room at Mount Ida College. The keynote speaker, Dr. Emmett G. Price III, is an associate professor of music at Northeastern University and a nationally recognized expert on the music of the Black Church, Christian Worship and leadership in music ministry. In addition to Dr. Price’s keynote address, "A New Generation of Dreamers", Mount Ida College’s President, Barry Brown, and members of our student organizations will share words and song in celebration of the achievements and life of Martin Luther King, Jr. The event is proudly sponsored by Mount Ida’s Black Student Achievement Coalition and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
About Dr. Emmett G. Price III
Emmett G. Price III is an associate professor of music at Northeastern University where he also served as chair of the Department of African American Studies from 2008-2012. This coming spring, he is a visiting professor of Africana Studies/Music and Society at Berklee College of Music. An ordained minister, Dr. Price serves as Founding Pastor of Community of Love Christian Fellowship in Allston, Massachusetts. A nationally recognized expert on the music of the Black Church, Christian Worship and leadership in music ministry, he is the president and founder of the Black Church Music Ministry Project (BCMMP), an organization launched in 2006 to "serve, nurture and develop spiritual leaders in music ministry." He is also the editor of The Black Church and Hip Hop Culture: Toward Bridging The Generational Divide (Scarecrow Press, 2012).
