Commonwealth Charitable Fund Awards Scholarships to Fashion Design Students
November 13, 2012
Since 2009, the Commonwealth Charitable Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, improvement, development and enhancement of young men and women, has awarded scholarships to Fashion Design students in the School of Design. This week, five students: Allyson Webb; Florence Duah; Paola Ferreira; Julie Michaud; and Lizz Stepchin, received $1,000 to fund their senior collections. Through the organization’s financial assistance, students are able to produce high-quality, creative designs.
On the Commonwealth Charitable Fund’s Facebook, Lizz Stepchin, a 2012 winner stated, “I cannot even begin to express the gratitude I feel from receiving this grant. With it, I will be able to produce the collection I've envisioned to the fullest extent of my ability, and not have to hold back due to monetary reasons. I am so thankful for this grant, and it will certainly help me to create the senior collection I have always dreamed of making.”
Through a competitive process, our Fashion Design faculty submitted student portfolios for review to the Commonwealth Charitable Fund. Only five talented student designers were chosen based on their skills and potential for creativity.
