Proposed rendering of both renovated fields

Newton, MA—The Board of Trustees and President of Mount Ida College recently announced the College’s plans to replace the main athletic field with a new artificial turf surface that is expected to be completed by the start of the 2012 fall seasons.  The new turf field will also feature the installation of lights, new bleachers, a press box, and scoreboard.

In addition to the main field project, Mount Ida also is expanding an existing practice field into a regulation-size grass playing surface that will allow for greater field access for varsity, club and intramural activities.

Enhance & Enrich the Mount Ida Community
“The new artificial turf field and field upgrades address the growing needs of our students, enhance the quality of our athletic programs and enrich the Mount Ida community and neighboring communities in countless ways,” said Dr. Lance Carluccio, President, Mount Ida College.  “It will increase the sense of community, school spirit and pride among students and alumni,” he added.

The renovated fields will serve as the home of five of Mount Ida’s outdoor field sports:  football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, as well as all recreational offerings.  The field renovation project provides many benefits to the Mount Ida community including more flexible game and practice times, less impact of inclement weather on athletic events, and increased athletic opportunities.

New Home of the Mustangs
Athletic Director Matt Burke stated, “The athletic field renovation project signals the start of a new era for Mount Ida Athletics and provides amazing opportunities for our varsity athletes, coaches and recreational programs to flourish.  We are eagerly anticipating the opening of the turf field this fall and the gathering of students, faculty, staff, families and alumni around the new home of the Mustangs.”
