Mount Ida College

From Potential to Achievement

Join Our Campaign for a New Artificial Turf Field and Lower Field Upgrade

February 17, 2012

Our Campus, Our Vision, Our Mustangs
Mount Ida College is home of the Mustangs, a NCAA Division III school with 15 fiercely proud varsity teams.  Our varsity athletic programs strengthen recruitment efforts, elevate our profile as a College and serve as an important catalyst for school pride and spirit for our Mount Ida community of parents, alumni and friends. For many of our student athletes, past and present, varsity sport has fueled their passion to achieve in college and in life.

The Time is Now
To ensure the Mount Ida community experiences the benefits of sport for generations to come, we must continually strive to deliver the tools our student athletes need to compete and win.   After much review and analysis, and many years of commendable use, the College has concluded that our existing grass turf fields are no longer cost-effective to maintain and that the need to replace and upgrade them is a pressing one.

New Artificial Turf Field & Lower Field Upgrade
Mount Ida is moving to replace the Main field with a new, artificial turf surface, along with new bleachers, a press box, scoreboard and lights.  Also included in the plan is to extend the Lower field, our grass practice field, to regulation size.  The estimated budget of this project is $2.2 million.  Construction of the artificial turf field is expected be completed by September 2012; the Lower field expected completion by fall 2013.

5 Reasons to Support Our Campaign
There are many reasons to support our campaign, here are just five:

  • Improve recruitment and retention of student-athletes;
  • Expand intramural offerings;
  • Minimize impact of inclement weather on practices and games;
  • Generate additional revenue; and
  • Substantially reduce operating costs for field maintenance.
