What Do I Need

Preparation Checklist
If you are considering taking an online course, please complete the following checklist to determine your preparedness for completing an online course.

Yes No Technology-Related:
I have a PC at home with an operating system of Windows 2000 or later or a Mac computer with an operating system of OS10 or later.
I am comfortable using computer technology, e.g. word processing and sending e-mails.
I have internet access at home.
I have access to a printer at home.
I have Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint on my computer (for Windows 2000 or later, or OS 10 or later).
I have virus protection software on my computer that is regularly updated.

Checklist for Success
If you can answer “yes” to the following questions, you have the right learning strategies to be successful in completing a distance-learning course.

Yes No Learning-Related:
    I am prepared to work independently
    I am prepared to direct my own progress in the course.
    I have internet access at home.I would enjoy actively discussing issues with classmates and my instructor in a chat room or via a discussion board.
    I am prepared to share my work with my classmates as part of the course activities.
    I am prepared to access library resources and tutorial resources online.
    I am prepared to complete course work over 16 weeks or 8 weeks.
    I will be able to manage the time commitment for the online course - at least eight to ten hours per week per course for a 16 weeks course and up to 20 hours per week for an 8 weeks course.
