Mount Ida College

From Potential to Achievement

CELT mission statement and administrative structure
Mission Statement
CELT provides resources to improve and promote effective learning and teaching.   The Center is primarily for faculty development; however, it is open to staff and select students who demonstrate serious interest and ability to advance their professional competencies and skills.

Description and Goals
CELT draws upon the collective resources of the college to support individuals who wish to become more effective facilitators of learning. This goal is accomplished through workshops, expert guest presentations, peer discussion groups, individual consultations, focused feedback sessions, mentoring relationships, and other appropriate means. The Center utilizes expertise within and outside the college to provide programming and consultations in such areas as multiple learning styles, course development, instructional design, technology, information literacy, writing across the curriculum, multimodal research, and communication skills.

Administrative Structure
CELT leadership is provided by co-directors in consultation with an advisory board of faculty, staff, and students.   The co-directors report to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
