Diversity & Inclusion Programming
The Office of Diversity & Inclusion sponsors a series of educational, cultural and social events designed to encourage dialogue as well as enhance awareness about various multicultural issues and groups. By offering opportunities for self-disclosure, sharing of individual experiences, and exposure to diverse speakers and presentations, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion hopes that students, faculty, and staff will gain a better knowledge of themselves, culturally distinct people, and multiculturalism on a global level.
Multicultural awareness, attitudes, and skills cannot be imposed; rather, these realities must be experienced, developed, and owned by the campus community. Each event and program is designed to develop in students, faculty, and staff levels of proficiency in understanding, accepting, and working skillfully with those who are culturally and ethnically different. Through leadership and collaboration, I hope to address the cultural disconnections present among students, faculty, and staff, so that we can create an environment that promotes retention, graduation, and success in a global, multicultural society.
