Descriptions of charges that may appear on a student statement

Tuition

   This is the cost of participating in courses at Mount Ida College.

 

Comprehensive Fee

   This is a mandatory, non-refundable fee that helps maintain the integrity of the courses provided through Mount Ida College.

 

Medical Insurance

   As a result of the Massachusetts law C.15A, full-time students are automatically billed for individual membership in the health insurance plan sponsored by their colleges or universities.  Students must purchase the school-sponsored health plan or show proof of comparable coverage in an alternate health plan in order to enroll.  To waive school insurance, please visit: www.mountida.edu/insurance and select the link for the on-line waiver form. 

 

Individual Course Fees

   Some courses have fees for materials or equipment used in the course.

 

Activities Fee-Res

   This is a mandatory, non-refundable fee for residents that funds events and activities throughout the academic year.

 

Activities Fee-Com

   This is a mandatory, non-refundable fee for a commuter that funds events and activities throughout the academic year.

 

Declining Balance Points  

   This charge reflects the purchase of additional declining balance points from Aramark Dining Services.  These points are accepted like cash in both dining halls.

 

Voluntary Meal Plan

   This charge is generated when a non resident student elects to buy a dining plan. These dining memberships are geared specifically to give students better dining value for their dollar when they use their meal card instead of paying cash to eat. 

 

Key/ID Replacement

   This charge is incurred by Residence Life. For further information or details, please contact your Resident Director.

 

Damage Charge

   This charge is originated from Residence Life. Here is a list of some charges that may apply. For further information or details, please contact your Resident Director.

 

Judicial Fee

   This charge is originated from Residence Life.  For further information or details, please contact your Resident Director. 

 

Closing Fine

   This charge is originated from Residence Life.  For further information or details, please contact your Resident Director.

 

Bounced Check Fee

   This charge appears on a bill when a payment is made by check, the funds are found to be insufficient once the college deposits it.

 

Pending

   This indicates that the monies, ex. Loans, scholarships, grants, and awards have yet to be disbursed to the college. 

 

Verified

   This amount reflects monies that have been confirmed or remaining balances with third party payment plan companies. (For example: Tuition Management Systems is a third party company that the college works with for no interest monthly payment plans.)

 

Total Balance

   This is the balance on the account, and does not reflect any pending of verified aid.

 

Amount Due

   This is the balance on your account.  If you have verified aid, it has been subtracted from the balance and is reflected in this amount.  If you have pending aid, it has not been reflected in this amount because the funds are not readily available at this time.
