DEAN, School of Applied Science
Mount Ida College has recently undergone a reorganization of its academic enterprise in an effort to better align its academic programs and resources with the College’s mission. As a result, the College has reorganized the current five Schools into four distinctive and clearly defined Schools which include the School of Applied Science, the School of Business, the School of Design and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Consequently, the College invites applications for these four newly created senior leadership positions.
These positions are full-time, 12-month positions that report to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Deans will provide academic leadership and oversee and administer all School programs, departments, personnel, budgets and facilities in accordance with the College’s strategies, policies and procedures.
Essential responsibilities will include overall leadership of the School and its academic programs including oversight for the quality and effectiveness of the academic programs and faculty within the School, teaching assignments, curriculum review and development, and student advising; recruitment, mentoring, supervision and management of faculty and staff; ensuring and measuring program quality and excellence through outcomes assessment; engaging in campus wide collaboration with other Deans to increase student and faculty engagement; and participating and leading strategic internal and external community and industry outreach efforts and initiatives.
The Deans will have a terminal degree with 8-10 years’ experience in higher education and teaching experience in at least one field represented among the academic departments within the School while also having familiarity with the disciplines within the school. The Deans should possess strategic leadership ability and strong management skills, successful record of academic administrative leadership, demonstrated intellectual achievement, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, entrepreneurial ambition, collaborative and creative energy and a passion to further the College’s mission of career-relevant professional preparation. Deans will also be expected to teach two courses per year at the College after their first year.

- Leads the departments of Veterinary Technology, Dental Hygiene, Applied Forensic Science, Funeral Service and Biology/Natural Sciences
- Must be familiar with Biology and Chemistry laboratory oversight
