The Gallery at Mount Ida College

The Gallery at Mount Ida College presents innovative exhibitions of regional, national and international fine artists and designers. Our mission is to celebrate life long learning and involvement in the arts through exhibitions highlighting artistic excellence as found in varied disciplines.

Located on the campus of Mount Ida College, The Gallery has featured works in photography, painting, sculpture, video, and a variety of art forms that challenge and excite the senses. Since 1999 artists and designers have found a showcase for traditional and alternative media. The gallery exhibitions are an innovative part of the Mount Ida learning experience.

Hours                                
The Gallery is open to the general public Tuesday - Sunday, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. during the academic year.

The Gallery is located in Carlson Hall on the Mount Ida College campus (777 Dedham Street, Newton, Massachusetts).

Drawing In Thread :  Contemporary Embroidery

Reception Thursday, 4/8/10 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
with Gallery talk on 4/8/10 at 6:30 p.m.

Traditionally, embroidery is a decorative embellishment made with a needle and thread on textiles. This exciting exhibition includes the work of 19 contemporary artists who push the boundaries of the traditional meaning of embroidery.
