What is the Athletic Hall of Fame?
The Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes the significant accomplishments of Mount Ida College alumni varsity athletes, Athletic Department coaches and staff. The Athletic Hall of Fame selections take into account Mount Ida’s position as the college of choice for a professionally focused education that takes students from potential to achievement. Members of the Athletic Hall of Fame are accomplished on and off the playing field or court.
How do nominations work?
Membership to the Athletic Hall of Fame is based on nominations by alumni, faculty, staff, fan or member of the Mount Ida College community. Those eligible for consideration for induction to the Hall of Fame must be alumni athletes or former Athletic Department coaches and staff. The selection committee, consisting of the Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving, Athletic Director, Student-Athlete and President, will select the nominees.
Note: Current Athletic Department coaches and staff are not eligible.
Membership Criteria
Alumni Eligible for Induction Five Years after Graduation: For 2013’s induction Mount Ida alumnus and alumna must be a member of the graduating class of 2008 or earlier.
• Outstanding Athletic Achievement: Alumni athlete nominees must demonstrate outstanding athletic achievement, while a member of a Mount Ida College varsity athletic team.
• Good Citizenship and Leadership: Alumni athletes being nominated must have demonstrated good citizenship and leadership and have been in satisfactory academic standing as a student at Mount Ida College.
• Outstanding Coaching Achievement: Athletic Department coach, staff nominees and staff personnel must demonstrate outstanding coaching achievement, while a head coach or key support player of a Mount Ida College athletic team.
Induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame
Selected nominees who have made a significant impact on Mount Ida College Athletics and meet the criteria for membership will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Inductees are typically recognized during Mount Ida’s Annual Athletic Banquet in May. During the induction ceremony, each inductee receives a unique plaque/trophy in recognition of his/her accomplishments and induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Additionally, a photo of each inductee will be displayed in the Athletic Center for future generations of students to see and enjoy. See past Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.
