The Mount Ida College Department of Public Safety has primary responsibility for response to and investigation of all incidents that occur on college property. Mount Ida College has a formal memorandum of understanding with the Newton, Massachusetts Police Department. Under this memorandum the Newton Police Department will provide assistance in incidents that require resources not available within the Department of Public Safety. In addition, Mount Ida College will summon assistance from other agencies as deemed necessary in situations requiring special resources.
It is the policy of the Mount Ida College Board of Trustees to protect the members of the total college community and to safeguard the property of Mount Ida College. Under the supervision of the Chief of Public Safety, the Mount Ida College Department of Public Safety shall ensure that reasonable protection is provided by using methods that fit within and contribute to the educational philosophy and purpose of the college.
Any student or employee in violation of college policies is subject to disciplinary action up to and including expulsion or termination from Mount Ida College for violations of the standard of conduct.
The decision to take disciplinary action in any instance lies with the Dean of Student Affairs or the President of Mount Ida College.
