A faculty member wishing to exercise the sabbatical privilege must present a written proposal describing his/her intention for professional improvement no later than November 4 of the year prior to the intended sabbatical year, and may include written recommendations by colleagues pertaining to the proposal. Exceptions to the deadline of November 4 due to unusual circumstances will be considered. Upon approval by School Directors, the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and the President of the College, requests for sabbatical leave will be considered for approval by the Board of Trustees.

Sabbaticals are granted for purposes of attaining an advanced degree or for purposes of research in the faculty member's field of study or in a related field of study.

Sabbaticals are granted for one academic year at half-salary or one-half academic year at full salary. It is understood that the faculty member will return to the full-time employ of the College in his/her School/Department for the year following the sabbatical year.
