We are currently seeking applications for a Laboratory Manager/Safety Officer to support the faculty of the School of Applied Sciences by maintaining inventory, logs and record books for compliance with state and federal regulations, collaborating with the faculty with the timely ordering of laboratory stocks, overseeing chemical waste disposal, and helping with the set-up of laboratory experiments for all courses, and serve as the College’s chemical safety officer. This is a full-time, 12 month position.

This position will have oversight of all laboratories in the School of Applied Sciences, working with individual laboratory managers in veterinary technology and dental hygiene to ensure the smooth and safe operation of those laboratories.  Additionally he or she will have oversight of all laboratory courses in the other areas of the School of Applied Sciences. The individual will work with faculty to maintain educational lab materials, to prepare laboratory courses and coordinate routine laboratory maintenance.

Requirements include Bachelor of Science in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or other laboratory based science degree and previous experience working in a microbiology and/or chemistry lab.  Master of Science highly preferred. Also required are knowledge of chemical hygiene plans, biohazard safety, and chemical and biological waste disposal protocols and general lab safety protocols and procedures; experience in higher education, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
