Besides developing strong bonds with fellow students and faculty members, another great way to grow and strengthen your professional network, while in school, is by joining one of the professional association student chapters on campus. When you take an active role in professional associations, you’ll gain career insights, meet professionals in your chosen field; attend networking events and much more.
Professional association student chapters
American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA): Open to School of Design students, the Mount Ida Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts promotes design as a profession as well as its use in strategy and culture.
DECA (Distributed Education Clubs of America):
Collegiate DECA is a student driven organization that values competence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork. DECA prepares students for careers by integrating skills learned in the classroom into real world experiences. Collegiate DECA programs assist in developing academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. Collegiate DECA conferences and other activities give students unique access to internships, scholarships, competition and professional networking.
Pi Sigma Eta – Funeral Directors Professional Fraternity: Open to funeral services students, Pi Sigma Eta is a co-ed professional and social fraternity that promotes professionalism and the importance of funeral service professions.
Student American Dental Hygienists Association (SADHA): Open to dental hygiene students, the Student American Dental Hygienists Association at Mount Ida focuses on issues such as access to quality oral health care, money saving and other benefits of preventive care, education standards and licensing for dental hygienists.
Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America: Open to veterinary technology students, the National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America student chapter at Mount Ida promotes the humane care of animal patients and the interests of veterinary technician and other veterinary professionals. The professional association hosts rabies vaccine clinics in the community.
