Among his career highlights, Professor Eames lists; American Association for State and Local History Award of Merit, the Albert B. Corey Award for Sacrifice of Self, 2008, the New England Museum Association Second Place Award for Sacrifice of Self, 2008 and the Ronald J. Lettieri Award for Excellence in Teaching, bestowed on one of its own by Mount Ida College in 2006.

Professor Eames is a member of Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture, the Organization of American Historians and the Society for Military History.
