When Fashion Futures, the annual student-produced runway show opens to a packed house in a downtown Boston club, it’s a testament to the leadership of Professor Potter, who brings not only the fashion design and merchandising & marketing programs together, but students from across the School of Design and campus as well.

Her ability to reach across all aspects stems from her varied and deep professional experience. She has held such titles as Marketing & Merchandising Manager, Advertising and Promotion Director, Visual Designer and Buyer, among others.

“I bring the fashion industry directly into the learning environment. Students might analyze a problem I was tasked with solving in the industry, meet with a former colleague of mine, and/or create and execute real-world fashion marketing and management plans that reflect the true needs of the industry.

I love that fashion tells a story, is an art form, is self-expression and that fashion keeps the pulse of our culture.” Potter counts the opportunities to challenge herself, to broaden her perspective, and to widen her network as her major career highlights. “I like instituting new visual merchandising standards for a former employer, becoming a member of Fashion Group International, and attending fashion industry events. “

“From emerging technologies to new business models, to the most obvious – the fashion itself – there is always something new and exciting in fashion. “

Professor Potter teaches Marketing Fashion: Advertising and Promotion, Consumer Behavior, Professional Selling, Retailing: Merchandising and Management, Sales Principles and the History of Fashion and Costume.

You'll never be bored working in fashion!
