Assistant Men's Basketball Coach/Coach ResidenceSuccess Coach
Joseph Dadiego will begin his second season as an Assistant Coach for the Mount Ida College men’s basketball team and will aid second year Head Coach Ben Davis in all operations of team management this season.
Prior to Dadiego’s arrival at Mount Ida, he served as a volunteer assistant basketball coach at his alma mater, the University of New England. As a student he spent one semester at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences before he transferred to UNE where he would be a member of the basketball team for the next 3 seasons. He played two seasons, his sophomore and senior seasons, and was a student assistant his junior year. As a senior he saw action in 20 games including starting the final 9 games of his career. He was third on the team in Field Goal Percentage at 48%. Despite being an undersized forward he was also second in the conference in Assist-To-Turnover ratio at 2.3. Dadiego graduated cum laude in May 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business.
Before college Dadiego played for the legendary coach Bob Brown at Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine. The two years Dadiego spent on varsity many team accolades were won including a Class A state championship in 2008, back to back Portland Expo Christmas Tournament championships in 2007 and 2008, and being awarded regular season conference champions after an impressive, undefeated 18-0 performance his senior season. Individually he was awarded the team’s Most Improved Player award and the Coaches’ Award.
Also, Dadiego was a coach and basketball skills instructor for the YES! for Youth basketball Program based out of Portland from March 2013 until his arrival at Mount Ida. While with YES! Dadiego led many skills and drills clinics in addition to coaching and recruiting for their dominant 8th grade boy’s AAU team.
