With clinical experience in patient care, as well as in educating a wide array of professionals including physicians, dentists and allied health professionals, Professor Shea brings his real-life experiences into the classroom.

Shea sees technology changing the industry at a very rapid pace. “Technology has transformed what is considered one of the most ancient professions in the world. Cremation is providing more options and creating a different face for memorialization. The forefathers of my profession could never have imagined the current choices and opportunities families have for honoring their loved ones. ”

Professor Shea shares with his students; “So those in search of knowledge may obtain the wisdom they sought when they began their journey; to help others sharpen their skills and learn a new skill helps the profession to grow. Keeping wisdom concealed to oneself creates a stagnant profession and does not allow for growth, either personally or Professionally. As a student learns from an educator, an educator learns from his or her students. ”

Shea holds a Funeral Director License and multiple Instructor Certifications (AHA, ASHI, ECSI, CEVO), Small Pox Administration and Tobacco Cessation. He has also practiced as a nationally registered EMT and as a Radiology Technician Assistant.

Professor Shea is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, National Eagle Scout Association, Alpha Chi, Pi Sigma Eta and the Medical Reserve Corp.

He teaches Embalming I, Embalming Clinical, Pathology, Board Certification and Competencies Skills as well as being the Embalming Clinical Coordinator for the program.
