Alexandra Iaccarino

Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach

Since the age of 18, Alexandra Iaccarino has been an intensive international marathoner and triathlete, and she has been running long distance events competitively since an early age.

She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and a member of the Cavalier field hockey team and marathon club where she, in a team of students, trained daily for marathons throughout the year. This training included all realms of physical and mental wellbeing- from nutrition and diet, to cross training, to long distance and speed work, to academic group study.

“I see the Mount Ida community as one that invests in a much more comprehensive understanding of student well-being. I am excited to create tangible and lasting relationships with Mount Ida’s runners and will use my energy, enthusiasm, and passion to inspire the students on a daily basis,” said Iaccarino.

Before coming to Mount Ida, Iaccarino had been working internationally in Rwanda at a design and health firm. While running marathons throughout the East Africa region, Iaccarino also jump started and managed a training team in Kigali, Rwanda with a diverse group of runners, ages 20 – 40, of all fitness levels. This experience heightened her interest in coaching and her appreciation of being part of a team.

In addition to her extensive marathon running, Iaccarino has worked as a program director at Madison House nonprofit in Charlottesville, Va., coached Charlottesville Middle School field hockey, and taught yoga at Waka Fitness in Kigali, Rwanda.
