Longfellow Laboratory Preschool Open Studios and Lecture Series: “The Big Disconnect: Protecting Childhood and Family Relationships”

Longfellow Laboratory Preschool  is pleased to announce that our Lecture Series, featuring author Dr. Catherine Steiner-Adair, will take place on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Campus Center Theatre at Mount Ida College.

We also invite you to attend our Longfellow Laboratory Preschool Open Studios prior to the lecture on Monday, April 7 at Longfellow Preschool from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  You are invited to visit the Longfellow Laboratory Preschool to view our space and learn more about the children’s ongoing emergent curriculum.  Our staff is eager to engage and share ideas about our Reggio Emilia style inspired learning environment – an approach to learning known for regarding the environment as the third teacher.

Following our open studios, there will be a lecture entitled “The Big Disconnect: Protecting Childhood and Family Relationships in the Digital Age” presented by Dr. Steiner-Adair. Dr. Steiner-Adair’s educational lecture seeks to help parents and educators understand the ways in which technology and media are putting children at risk at each stage of development.  Drawing on real-life stories from her clinical work with children and families and her consulting work with educators and experts across the country, Dr. Steiner-Adair will help you will explore the skills to distinguish between educational, healthy and unhealthy use, and practical strategies for nourishing deep attention and meaningful relationships.
