“As a teacher of teachers, I have the opportunity to impact the future of education,” says Education Professor Susan Donnellan, reflecting on her vocation. “As I prepare future educators, it is essential to address the changes in society and education to meet the needs of children.”

Throughout her career, Professor Donnellan has taught children of varying ages, ability levels, and in a variety of educational settings. “These experiences, in tandem with my course curriculum, contribute to the career-focused education we provide in the Professional Studies in Education Department,” notes Professor Donnellan.

She advises future teachers to “learn how your students learn before you teach course content,” and to “create a collaborative learning environment that encourages students to ask questions and apply knowledge.”  Professor Donnellan teaches Curriculum for Young Learners, Infant and Toddler Education, Children’s Literature, The Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and The Child, Environment, and Behavior. In addition to her teaching, Professor Donnellan assisted in developing the curriculum required to facilitate a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Additional License for Teachers of Students with Moderate Disabilities, PreK-9.
