Phyllis Baron brings a wealth of experience to her classroom, sharing real-world experiences in her case studies.
As Senior Vice President, Chief Strategic officer for Planning and Corporate Development at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts she was responsible for mergers, acquisitions, new business development and leading initiatives that turned the organization around. At Brigham and Women’s hospital she built an emergency room for Harvard Community Health Plan’s partnership and won a proposal to build a Lifecare Community on the ‘North 40’ with Wellesley College.
“I love the classroom and enjoy witnessing the growth of individual students,” Baron says. “Helping the first generation college students fine themselves and their personal success is why I teach.”
Baron tackles the global aspect of business and technology’s impact, and multicultural marketing. “We explore the changes in the external environment and the demands it creates for innovative thinking and new job opportunities.”
Baron’s students will learn from her experience in business planning, project management, product development, mergers and acquisitions, downsizing and closing businesses, fee for service and not for profit businesses operations and implementations. In addition, they’ll become conversant in Medicare, healthcare, business turnarounds, product development and marketing, sales, board presentations, selling businesses, customer service, executive management, clinical management and change management.
Baron’s best advice to her students; “Change is a constant, innovation is critical. Stay open-minded and flexible and keep building core competencies in yourself. Never stop learning and listening to what others have to offer.”
Baron teaches U.S. Healthcare Systems and Healthcare Policy and Ethics.
