Professor Marshall is a practicing artist, which gives him a great advantage in the classroom. “I am involved in the same process of learning as my students when we talk about the challenges, frustrations and strategies that are part of establishing an effective creative process.”
Marshall uses current projects of his own as the basis for classroom assignments. “As computer tools become as immediate as pencil on paper, the foundation of hand drawing and design skills becomes even more important. Developing a personal voice through a combination of skill, technique and concept is the basis of great design.”
Professor Marshall teaches Basic Drawing Skills and Life Drawing and Anatomy. Recently, he was chosen for a summer residency at the Rocky Neck Art Colony in Gloucester, had a solo show at the Cape Ann Museum, and has shown his New Orleans Drawing Project in Boston and surrounding communities.
