From corporate fitness to conference commissioner, business owner and athletic director, Professor Palmer understands the application of best business practice to the world of sport and athletics.
Palmer’s approach educationally, is human and humble within a philosophy that embraces the learner.
“I understand the critical importance of weaving a balanced academic and athletic experience for student athletes to maximize their personal and professional growth. Helping to cultivate the mind/body and psyche in athletes as a coach and athletic director in the classroom is one of the most exciting parts of my discipline. Blending these perspectives as a learning outcome has a dynamic quality that is unmatched.”
Professor Palmer’s career highlights include work as a corporate fitness specialist for Xerox Corporation, as coach and professor at Bridgeport and High Point Universities, time as Director of Physical Education and Athletics at Albertus Magnus College and as Commissioner of the North Atlantic Conference.
She is in the Hall of Fame of Concord-Carlisle High School, the University of Bridgeport and at Mount Ida College.
Palmer, who brings her experience into the classroom, combines sport leadership with study abroad, leadership development, embracing of culture and does additional work with professionals in the community. She is also an instructor with the American Red Cross.

Professor Palmer teaches Leadership in Sport, Sport Management Practicum, Leadership Development, Cultural Embrace, Sport Ethics and the Sport Management, Senior Internship.
