The Department of Public Safety Welcomes You
If you are new to Mount Ida College and its location, Newton, Massachusetts, you’ll be pleased to know that our hometown has been featured as one of the top 10 safest cities in the United States throughout the past decade. We know that public safety is a top priority for members of the Mount Ida community, and while the City of Newton’s ranking is a source of pride, our Department of Public Safety takes campus security very seriously.
For this reason, Mount Ida Public Safety operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our officers patrol the campus grounds, respond to incidents as they arise and participate in proactive efforts to educate the community in order to reduce opportunities for crime and public safety concerns.
However, a truly safe campus can only be achieved with the cooperation of you and the entire community including faculty, staff, students and visitors. Personal safety is everyone’s responsibility. By working together we can make our campus a safe and peaceful place to live, learn, work and succeed.
