Friday, October 25, 2013, Newton, MA—Mount Ida College has signed its first collaborative agreement with Santander Bank’s Global Division, Santander Universities, which will allow the College’s Center for Global Connections to enhance its international travel study abroad programs, including offering financial aid to students who would not otherwise be able to participate in its international travel abroad programs.
The new agreement was signed by Barry Brown, President of Mount Ida College and Roman Blanco, CEO of Santander Holdings USA and Santander Bank, formerly Sovereign Bank during yesterday’s on-campus ceremony with distinguished guests from both institutions.
In signing the agreement, President Brown stated, “Mount Ida College prepares students to launch successful careers. In today’s global economy, gaining international experience prior to graduation is essential. Santander Universities and Santander Bank recognize this and share our common purpose for which we are grateful. We are proud to have Santander and Santander Universities as a partner in supporting international study at Mount Ida.”
The Center for Global Connections at Mount Ida College was established to promote understanding of globalization on campus and in the classroom and to offer students and faculty a diverse range of study abroad opportunities. Since its founding, the Center has been responsible for connecting domestic and international students on campus for educational and social programming, facilitating the smooth transition of our international students into American college life and giving a growing number of students the opportunity to travel abroad, including Semester at Sea and study and internship experiences in Europe, China and Australia, to name just a few.
