Do I need to attend orientation?

Yes. Orientation is mandatory for all incoming students. As a new first-year, transfer or international student, our orientation programs provide you with the opportunity to get to know your community and meet your fellow classmates. We strongly recommend you make arrangements to attend one of the orientation sessions offered in June.

How do I know which orientation session to register for?

New students should plan to attend one of the June orientation sessions. If you are an international student or cannot attend the June session, you should contact the Admissions Office. Transfer students should plan to attend the July Transfer session. Placement for the various orientation sessions is based on availability, so be sure to register early.

Is there an orientation fee?

No payment is required of new students attending orientation. If your parents choose to participate in our Parent Orientation program, there is only a fee if they plan to attend the dinner. The cost is $50 per person which includes transportation, meal and bar service.

Can I bring a guest to orientation?

Parents and guardians are welcome to attend, and encouraged to participate and register for the parent/guardian component of orientation, which runs concurrently to the student program.  Some of the sessions do crossover, however, parents/guardians will have their own very full schedule while students are in their own programs.  Please note that the parent/guardian sessions are designed for adult family members and may not be of interest to younger siblings, therefore we encourage you and your family to make plans accordingly.  Pets are not permitted at Orientation events.

What should I bring to orientation?

You should bring the following items with you to orientation:

  • Photo ID (state ID or license)
  • Casual clothes and comfortable shoes
  • Personal toiletries
  • Sleeping bag, pillow and towel
  • Rain gear
