Guidance Counselors

Our Admissions team strongly values our relationship with you and your fellow high school guidance counselors from across the country. We understand and recognize how important you are in helping our prospective students decide whether Mount Ida College is the right fit for them.

At Mount Ida, we offer career focused programs with real world internships, along with a strong foundation in the humanities, social sciences and the arts. Our engaged, industry experienced professors focus on teaching and each student’s individual success. We have a tight-knit, diverse and inclusive community that feels a lot like family and vibrant student life for both residential and commuter students.

To help you better understand our admissions criteria, like most colleges, our admissions team reviews SAT scores and grade point averages. However, we also look to admit students who are working hard to become their best selves—as a student, as a person, and as a future professional in the workplace. For us, that means your student should demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • Achieves academically, demonstrating success or progress in high school coursework
  • Is an engaged and active citizen, participating in the community
  • Participates in extracurricular activities that are character-building
  • Has overcome obstacles

Professional Development for Guidance Counselors

We invite you to participate in our workshops for guidance counselors. Designed as professional development programs, our interactive platform offers an opportunity to engage with industry professionals and colleagues for sharing best practices and the latest trends in college admissions. The next event is planned for Fall 2018, and we will be posting more information as we get closer to the date. If you have questions, or would like to make suggestions for future workshops, please contact Melissa Hagerstrom.
