Graduate student admission requirements

In addition to completing the Free Online Application, you are required to submit the following supporting materials for admission into Mount Ida College’s graduate programs.

1.  Official Transcript(s)

Applicants must submit official transcripts from regionally accredited institutions. A transcript is considered official if it is either sent directly from the institution or mailed in an envelope sealed by the issuing institution. Please note that transcripts scanned and emailed by the applicant are not acceptable.

2.  Letter of Recommendation

Applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation. Letters should be written on letterhead and signed by the recommender. In addition, letters should meet the following requirements.

  • Written by a former professor familiar with the applicant’s academic abilities and capacity to do graduate-level work.
  • Written by a colleague that has worked closely with the applicant.

If you cannot get a mixture of both, we do accept letters of recommendation from two professors or two colleagues. We do not accept letters of recommendation written by family members or friends.

3.  Essay (Statement of Purpose)

Applicants should write about their motivation to pursuing graduate study and describe their professional interests and goals. Essays should be:
