Our ESL Program:
The English as a Second Language (ESL) program prepares non-native English speakers for success in undergraduate programs at Mount Ida College. We offer ESL courses that are tailored for fully admitted students who are academically admissible but who achieve a low English proficiency exam score.

In our ESL program, you will be a fully admitted, full time Mount Ida student attending regular college level classes, as well as taking 1 or 2 extra English classes for your first year in order to strengthen your language skills. These small classes with roughly 10 students are taught by Mount Ida College professors, will range from 6-9 credits a year. ESL students have access to all college resources and benefits. They benefit from being part of a global educational community in the United States.
If you have scored lower than a 45 on the TOEFL/4.0 on IELTS, or have not taken any English proficiency test, we recommend you start off with any of the below listed intensive English courses before enrolling full time in a degree seeking program at Mount Ida College. We have partnership with each of these English Language Centers. Once you complete their English program, the English proficiency test requirement for your application will be waived.
