The Bachelor of Science in Animation emphasizes applied, hands-on learning experiences and skills. Our project-based and professional-experience-driven animation degree will give you the opportunity to create a portfolio of work that showcases your abilities in animation. You will graduate from the program industry-ready and well-rounded in your experience and skills. Guided by our professional faculty, you will be a part of a creative team that spurs your imagination, creativity and skill set. Throughout your four years here, you will be educated in a wide range of industry-standard tools and techniques, with opportunities to create:

  • Traditionally drawn, 2D animations
  • 3D computer animation
  • Short, narrative-driven animated works

  • Animated simulations for training and education

You will earn credits toward your degree in Animation while gaining practical real-world experience through in-demand internships and industry networking within the Boston area’s game and animation community or beyond.


Our Bachelor of Science in Animation features small classes led by attentive and engaged faculty with years of industry experience. Our program combines the most current technology with the study of traditional animation principles and animation processes. You will gain a core art foundation in drawing, design and contemporary art combined with approximately 21 detailed, skill-based animation courses, all enabling you to become a well-informed and skilled practitioner at the cutting edge of industry.

The Animation curriculum offers courses the following:

  • Storyboarding and pre-production techniques
  • 3D modeling and digital sculpting
  • Traditional 2D animation
  • 3D computer animation
  • Technical art
  • Special effects and post production techniques

The Bachelor of Science in Animation requires 120 credits, broken down as follows:

  • 69 Credits in Animation
  • 18 Credits in foundational art courses
  • 12 Credits in general studies
  • 21 Credits in arts, sciences and humanities

Faculty & Staff Directory

Animators work for a wide variety of clients. They work in feature animation, television cartoons, video gaming, web development, multimedia design, motion graphics and educational/training simulations. In addition, many animators work in specialty in-demand fields such as 3D modeling, storyboard and conceptual art, character animation, visual effects and rigging and technical art.

Graduates of our Animation program may also decide to go on to graduate school, seeking a graduate degree in Animation.
