The CAGE is a student oriented service office in the School of Design. Our primary goal is to have a positive impact on student’s education by
1) Providing and managing art and design technology to support the curricula of our programs. A full inventory or available gear can be found here.
We offer full professional photography studio sets ups including DSLR’s, video cameras, lights, and back drops; we offer Cintiq touch screen monitors, as well as a large supply of accessories. The CAGE also directly supports the photography studio. We will be looking to run a series of demos next academic year to better acquaint our students with the technology available to them.
2) Providing an in-house print shop for high quality prints of student work. Using our two large format roll printers we are able to make prints up to 44″ wide, on the short edge, for a variety of purposes. We print Photography, Graphic Design, and Interior Design Construction Documents and presentation materials. In addition to making fine art prints for the New Visionaries exhibition, the CAGE prints on a variety of media including – bond paper, heavy weight coated paper, Premium matte Paper, Luster / Semi-gloss, and Light Card Stock.
We also offer dry mounting and 3D printing. All of this printing is done for FREE as part of student’s tuition.
3) Tech support – the CAGE is the first line of service when it comes to trouble shooting student computer issues. We work in close collaboration with tech services to coordinate excellent support for our students staff and faculty. We are able to offer in house tech support directly to students in the School of Design. In addition we are able to make an impact in our technology based studios by maintaining and managing our computers, software, and a.v. equipment. We are the first line of support for faculty who need help setting up AV for their courses.
