Message from the Provost
Mount Ida College blends career-relevant education with broad-based learning in the arts, sciences and humanities to prepare students to succeed in a changing world. That’s not just our mission statement, it is what we live out every day on this beautiful campus. Our four specialized schools offer programs that are designed to equip students with appropriate and current knowledge, skills, behaviors and values in their field of choice, and robust internships in every program help students apply their learning in real professional environments. We also prepare all of our students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, effective communicators, and responsible global citizens, so that they can succeed in every endeavor they undertake throughout their lives.
Teaching is the primary role of our faculty, and they possess both the academic qualifications and the real-world experience and connections to provide high quality educational experiences as well as to help students develop and attain career goals. Our academic facilities provide dynamic learning environments, from our industry-standard design labs, to our dental hygiene clinic, to our veterinary technology facility and science labs.
With 1,400 students, we are a small and engaged learning community. At Mount Ida College, we believe that student learning is a 24/7 activity that happens in and out of the classroom, in residence halls, on athletic fields, in student organizations, and more. Student learning and student life are very actively supported beyond the classroom through service learning and civic engagement, short-term travel courses that take students and faculty all over the globe, and a host of co-curricular events, speakers and other experiences on and off campus. We also support student learning through free academic tutoring, our Writing Center, our library and our Student Achievement Program.
How do we know we are succeeding at our mission? If you have the opportunity to visit our campus and meet our dynamic and diverse students, you will see for yourself. They are curious, committed, and passionate about their learning. The strongest proof is our employment rate – 85% of our graduates are hired in a position in their field requiring a college degree within one year of graduation. That is double the national average for college graduates. Others go on to attend graduate programs, including law schools, medical schools, MBA programs and our own Master of Science in Management offerings.
I encourage you to learn more about our distinctive academic programs, our accomplished faculty and our classic New England campus on this website, or, better yet, to come and visit our extraordinary small college.
