Our Management Master’s Degree with Sport Leadership concentration will prepare you to become a true difference-maker in the sports industry and your community. Designed for students from any bachelor’s degree background, the program prepares sports managers who can contribute to local education, health, family life, and economic growth. You’ll develop advanced sport leadership skills such as market analysis, strategic planning and communications, while getting workplace experience via an advanced internship. Experiential learning in the MSM–Sport Leadership Degree Program

The Sport Leadership concentration of the Master’s of Management Degree Program offers specialized, hands-on instruction. Course assignments are based on case studies and real-world situations. You’ll learn what it takes to lead sports organizations at many levels (including pro, college, high school and amateur), while getting familiar with independent sports consulting firms that offer services like business development, public relations, fitness programming and youth recreation.

The program culminates in a sport management internship that lets you put your knowledge into practice in a real workplace.

Sport Management Curriculum

The Master’s of Management Degree with Sports Leadership concentration includes broad courses in management. You’ll study subjects such as marketing, information systems, human resources, finance, organizational behavior and decision analysis. In addition, the sport leadership program features industry-specific courses in:

  • Sport marketing and sponsorship
  • Sport media
  • Public relations
  • Sport law

The Master’s of Management Degree with Sports Leadership concentration consists of 36 total credits, broken down as follows:

  • 21 credits in core management
  • 15 credits in sport management and leadership electives
