Caps and gowns, tickets

When do I order my cap and gown?

The deadline for ordering your cap and gown is Tuesday, April 15, 2014.You may place your order online at no charge here.

When do I pick up my cap and gown?

You may pick up your cap, gown and tassel at the Senior Showdown Commencement Fair on Monday, May, 12, 2014. Students who are receiving Latin Honors will receive their Honor Cords at the Commencement Fair when they receive their cap, gown and tassel.

When is the Senior Showdown Commencement Fair?

To help make the steps leading up to Commencement easy, we invite you to attend the Senior Showdown Commencement Fair on Monday, May 12, 2014. In addition to getting answers to all of your important questions about graduation, there will be fun giveaways and light refreshments served.

Can I adorn my cap and gown for Commencement?

Honor society insignia for Alpha Chi, Eta Sigma Delta, Phi Beta Delta, Phi Theta Kappa, Pi Sigma Eta, and Sigma Beta Delta, BSAC and SALSA affinity sashes are the approved adornments for the cap and gown.  Students have been known to personalize their caps, however, we remind students to remember that this is an official academic ritual and while creativity is appreciated, decorum should be of the highest order. Commencement Staff will be in the student line up area to assist with questions about how to wear your cap and they will also have clips and pins to help secure them should you require it.

What should I wear under my Commencement gown?

We suggest you dress in attire appropriate for this momentous occasion that is so important to you, your family and special guests. We suggest practical shoes as the grass leading up to and inside the tent may be difficult to walk in high heels, flip flops and other shoes that do not have adequate support. Caps should be worn straight and parallel to the ground.

Do I or my guests need tickets to attend Commencement?

No, tickets are not required to attend the commencement exercises. Nor is there a limit to the number of guests each graduate may bring. However, seating is on a first come, first served basis and there is a finite number of seats. However, awards ceremonies and other events on the days prior to the Commencement ceremony are predominately by invitation only.

Honor cords, diplomas

When and where do I get my Honors cords?

If you are receiving honors—Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude—you will receive your Honors cord(s) when you receive your cap, gown and tassel at the Commencement Fair. To receive a cord, you must fulfill the final cumulative grade point average requirements, which are listed below by December of 2013. If you have incomplete grades or other outstanding work, you are not eligible to receive Honors cords by Commencement. However, once unresolved work is successfully completed, that status will be reflected on the final official transcript. Questions regarding Latin Honors should be brought to the attention of the Registrar’s Office.

The following honors categories awarded are as follows:

  • summa cum laude CGPA of 3.80 to 4.00
  • magna cum laude CGPA of 3.67 to 3.79
  • cum laude CGPA of 3.33 to 3.66

Where do I get my diploma?

For administrative purposes and to ensure the Commencement ceremony goes smoothly, your diploma is mailed directly to you after Commencement. If your mailing address has changed, be sure to inform the Office of the Registrar prior to graduation.

When can I order my yearbook?

You may pre-order your Class of 2014 Vita Libre, Mount Ida College Yearbook here. The yearbook offers you the option of inserting up to 10 customized pages using your own personal photos. If you pre-order by May 1, 2014, you will receive the 10 customized pages, for free.
