Mustangs Dominate on Opening Weekend

Mount Ida College athletics teams began their fall seasons with great starts on a busy opening weekend of games for Mustang City. Opening day included a victory for the women’s soccer with a 1-0 win over Mitchell College on Alumni Field. The football team travelled to UMass Dartmouth and came away with a defensively strong performance, causing four turnovers in a 12-10 win over the Corsairs. Also on the road, women’s volleyball earned a spot in the championship of the Eastern Nazarene Invitational with three wins at the tournament, including a sweep of Day 1 against Newbury College as well as against the host team, the Lions. On Sunday, the men’s soccer team scored twice in the first half of their home opener, en route to a 2-1 win over Lesley University, moving their record to 1-1 on the season.
